Best way to remedy dense clay?

I was out collecting a soil sample this evening to send off to TX AgriLife Extension for testing and I knew I had clay soil but dang was hard to cut those cores! I am considering tilling in a couple weeks (so long as there isn't too much rain to make the clay gum up when tilled). My crops grew moderately alright with the little work I was actually able to put in this spring, but I'm sure the clay is keeping them from really flourishing.

I added tillage radish to my cover crop mix over the winter, and I grew potatoes in one area that is now cover cropped to buckwheat and amaranth, and that area was a tad easier to dig in but not much. What are some low cost options for breaking up the clay and loosening the soil for fall?
