Plastic bottles for insulation?

(Cross posted on r/zerowaste)

I am building a greenhouse in my backyard. (Picture is of the shape it will be) I will be using pallets, as is, for the lower portions of wall framing. I will need to fill that space inside the pallet with something repurposed that will act as insulation without having to buy insulation. Would plastic bottles work? Do I seal them filled with air or water? I can use some spray foam that I already have left over along edges, etc. and I planned on using plastic sheeting to add a layer of insulation when we get into the deepest part of winter (NE Kansas).

So, thoughts, has anyone done this or seen projects that have? Post links if you see them!

Thermal mass with water could work. Lots of guides out there

How cold do you get on average and how warm are you planning to try to keep the greenhouse?

Interesting idea. You might look up “solar heaters” using soda cans. Maybe there is something relevant there.
