A house in need of a lot of love!

Hello Reddit community,

After over three years of hard work, we’ve finally approached the finish line on the interior of our new home, and now it’s time to turn our attention to the exterior. I’m excited to share my landscaping journey and would love to get some feedback and ideas from you all as I embark on this project!

A little about the property:

We are fortunate to own a 1.2-acre lot that sits on a hill with mature oak trees, a beautiful magnolia tree, and an abundance of wildlife. The setting is gorgeous, and I want to maximize the landscaping to truly make the most of what we have here.

Short-term goals:

1.  Add stone siding: I’m planning to use Eldorado Rough Casablanca and Eldorado Marquee24 White Dove to enhance the exterior’s visual appeal.
2.  Back patio with grilling area: We love to entertain, so creating a functional and stylish grilling area is a top priority.
3.  Gardening area: I want to carve out a space for a garden where I can grow fresh vegetables and herbs.
4.  Greenhouse: Eventually, I’d like to add a greenhouse to extend the growing season and nurture plants that need a bit more care.

Long-term goals:

1.  Roundabout relocation: Currently, the roundabout is in the back of the house, taking up valuable backyard space. I plan to move it to the front of the house, which will help regain the backyard for more functional use and enhance the front entrance.
2.  Paver driveway: Replacing the current driveway with pavers to enhance the look and durability.
3.  Gate: Adding a gate for privacy and security while complementing the overall design.
4.  Fire pit: A cozy fire pit area for family gatherings and enjoying cool evenings.
5.  Expanded gardening: I plan to expand the gardening area over time, potentially incorporating some native plants and landscaping that supports the local ecosystem.

This is going to be quite the journey, and I’m sure I’ll need advice and feedback along the way, especially on how to best integrate these elements into the existing landscape. I would love to hear your thoughts on the materials, design ideas, or any tips you have for someone working with a lot like mine.
