Yes, they should be Blackberries. Sweet & sour, but the reds aren‘t ready to eat yet

Red, no. Partly red, no. Picked of the side of a dusty road with pollutants, no.

In a nice open pesticide free field, yes, or a forest.

Edit: Watch out for bugs. If it looks like it has been tampered with by some creature, toss it.

Yes, it is blackberry. Any aggregate fruit in north America is edible except goldenseal and jack in the pulpit.

  4. Wildweed

If it has not had poison sprayed on it, totally edible.

Everyone’s saying they’re blackberries but imo that’s some dewberries. Still edible and very similar – just a wild variety. Drying them til they’re crunchy makes a yummy candy alternative (edit:spelling)

I’ve been warned against eating the ones that grow low enough for animals to pee on. Apparently you can get fox tapeworm or something. Guess they’re fine for jam though, tapeworm eggs don’t like being boiled

    They’re green whey they’re red 😉

Roadside blackberries.. easy to find and pick in Northern California right now and parts of Oregon.. We used to pick huge bags of these in the summer months.

So generally, dark berries in bunches are eatable. Single red berries are almost always poison
