Idk why the open space underneath bothers me. I feel like I should remove what little grass is under there, put down gravel, and like board it up. Suggestions?
Also this is my first house and the yard needs a TON of work, I know.

To me it looks fine, but if it bothers you i would probably just board it up to match. I hate how much trash goes under my deck from other neighbors so i thought about boarding it up, and that will help prevent that from happening to yours if you do decide on the board.
If you do cover it I’d include a door for access.
I would leave the space open. If you cover it, that space is going to turn into a nice little home for critters and pests. Damage becomes less noticeable, which is a bad thing because it takes longer to stop its progress. With the rest of the yard decorated, you’re not going to think much of the deck being like that. I would paint it though for protection and to match the home a bit better.
Line the front with boxwoods or another shrub of your choice and keep them trimmed to the deck line.
Add shutters
Mermaid grass
Small plantings or lattice if you want to conceal it. A nice potted tree/plant on the deck to the right if you just want to pull the eye up.
You could bury things under it!
Bamboo or Fire seem to be the most popular responses in this sub.
If you add some landscaping, like shrubs, to the front and have those wrap to the front of the deck, no one will notice the space under the deck.
