Grafting Plants

Stop branching!

The rootstock of my TBM keeps growing out and not up (into the Scion). Just stay the course and keep playing 'Whack-a-mole' with trimmers?

Teach it a lesson by grafting another pup onto every new growth lol

You may have to cut out every single aerial to prevent this

It could be that the Union with the scion isn’t conducting enough of the rootstocks energy so it’s looking for other outlets. One idea is to let one of those pups get bigger and then graft a piece of the scion to it and see how that graft grows.

It could also be you have some fungal stuff (can’t tel for sure if it’s fresh or scarred from the I have) which is limiting the scion’s ability to grow as fast, so addressing that could help too

  4. That’s life. Just remove and propagate

Maybe remove other areoles for further prevention. They have this coo tool that cuts perfectly it’s like a drag fruit cutting grafting tool.

Let it branch, graft smaller crested bridgesii on later:)
