Silver maple sucks. Suburban filler. Get rid of it while you still can and plant a nice solid local tree.

Living in Michigan, I haven’t seen the leaves turn color til fall. Half of the trees leaves are red. The only tree in the neighborhood that has changed color. There are burnt like bark at the trunk and noticed some more going up the tree with some sap coming out. Is this treatable? Something fungal I can spread insecticide and water around the tree? Or spray on the tree? Or watch the tree slowly die in a few years and prepare for firewood.
