Berries

Question; Rasperries :) 🌱

Hey guy‘s sorry for my english.
I have a question;
I planted these rasperries at the start of this year, dug some of them out from another garden and plantet them here.

I wanted to build some aid for them to grow vertical, however i had some stress and thought it would be soon enough next year.

Now my question; when should i cut them back?
If i search online, is seems like everyone has another opinion.
My gradpa says cut them back to a height of 10 cm in October, but idk if this is correct or if hes just lazy. 🙂
Some of them can be harvested once a year, the other one twice a year if this makes a difference.

I did not have many fruits this year, but they grew extremly well, if someone is interested i can share some photos of how they looked at the beginning.

Thanks a lot 🙂

    You can always cut them all down in the fall after they’ve fruited if you’re lazy.

    You don’t need to tip them usually since they don’t get too tall.

    If you want to be more precise, you can cut down the dead cane’s in the fall since they are done. They’ll be brown and crusty looking with very sad leaves.

    The difference you’re looking for is primocane vs florocane

    You might want to put in some poles with string in-between so canes don’t lean onto the walkway. From my experience they don’t need much support past that.

    Cut away any old browning canes down to dirt level after they’ve fruited and died back a bit. Any new growth is going to support fruit next year.

    Watch out with your brick walkway, they will try to grow past the dirt and up in-between the bricks.
