Bees are an obvious one. To support them you can also let most/some of any yard or grass you have to revert back to meadow.

It’s also helpful to leave forest intact or, at the very least, leave corridors of wild areas for animals to traverse your land safely.

That would be an awesome open/public project… have a bunch of people familiar with how HOA contracts are usually written, and come up with a playbook of specific things you can do that will throw a wrench into that insanity

nothing funnier than giving neighbour kids rabies

  4. We sow native prairie seeds in corridors and unmowed plots of land, like the front yard (we mow the edges to show that it’s intentional) and so there’s a bunch of native plants growing amongst the typical hay mix species. We also keep the oak trees on the land, they’ll never be cut down unless they’re already dying or falling apart (we get tornadoes so it happens). Even then the limbs tend to just stay there and provide habitat and such.

During the summer we keep lots of water around, the birds that live in the oaks or migrate through take full advantage of it, I’ve never had so many species appear by a house before in my life.

  5. Where can i find designs for something like this? We want more bats on the farm, and the little boxes dont seem like enough space…

Swallows are too. Protected under the migratory bird act. It’s easy to attract them.

    Water. Everything needs water.

I personally wonder what the interior looks like as well as how do you get them to go there and not your home.
