Fiddle Leaf Fig

Propagating question

My friend gave me this cutting of her fiddle fig about 7 weeks ago. I've had it in water in the window the entire time, changing water every few days. it seems only these white nubs are growing, not actual roots. I just bought a rooting powder that I've been using for a week and nothings really changed. Any advice? Should I try using the rooting powder and put it in soil at this point?

Not an expert, but have propagated fiddles twice and it can take a long time! I would recommend cutting at least the two larger leaves in half to encourage rooting rather than energy going to try to maintain the leaves.

I have had success with rooting powder and rooting in soil with fiddles, so you could def try that route instead – I’ve learned on here that rooting in soil has greater success?

Hi, I have successfully propagated my FLF and ficus audrey, and this is exactly what both of them looked like before they started growing roots. Looks like it’s happy!

I would keep it in water until you start seeing secondary roots and then plant it in soil.

Just keep it in water and it will root
Yours looks exactly like it’s gonna root in the coming 1-2 weeks

These are root primordia. They eventually develop into roots. It is progressing normally.

I use rooting powder and I put mine directly in soil. The last two I’ve done took about two months to get a new leaf, but I use clear plastic so I can see the roots growing.
