Are these roots or the starting of roots?

Hey everyone,

Been water propping some Ficus Elastica cuttings in water for about 1 1/2 months or so. So far, they all have these white growths but nothing that resembles roots. Is this normal? I have 10 nodes propping and they all have these growths. They are kind of spongy and firm but do not look like typical roots. What are they? Is it just taking longer than I thought?
