Today I removed the AV from it's 10 year pot and expected to see and smell rampant root rot, but didn't. I cut off a lot of the older droopy leaves, trimmed the length of the roots, sprayed its roots with 1/3 hydrogen peroxide and 2/3 water, let it sit, then dipped it in rooting hormone.
Put in new soil watered and covered with a Ziploc. I hope she is on the way to recovery.
The new pot is much smaller.
Her roots were long but I couldn't discern any root rot.
