Plz help money tree was wilting now I see this gray stuff on the soil

A friend sent me this money tree in through one of those mail plant companies about a year ago. He's been doing okay but nothing notable. I noticed he wilts on and off sometimes but nothing alarming. I was gone for about 11 days and he had some browning almost black tinged leaves. Not a big deal I thought just water. Maybe some more sunlight, put him closer to window.

I haven't been paying much attention and walked over today and noticed all this gray stuff. Also the tip of one stalk is getting black.

I don't have any other plants near him.

What should I do??? Can I dump the dirt and put in new dirt? Should I be using a chemical or anything special to clean the pot? Thank you so much in advance!

  1. Here you go Buddy :

    1. Remove the top layer of affected soil.
    2. Check roots for rot; trim any damaged parts.
    3. Repot using fresh, well-draining soil.
    4. Clean the pot thoroughly before reuse.
    5. Improve watering practices to avoid overwatering.
    6. Ensure good air circulation around the plant.

This should help your money tree recover and thrive, Hope this helps bro!
