San Pedro Cactus

Need help! Mold

Hi,

In my cactus soil there is growing mold on top of the soil. I even found some shrooms. (see Pic)

I don't have the time right now and I will leave for a week. Next time will be Friday night.

What could happen right now if it stays like this.

Will change soil when I am back home again.

The issue is that your soil is staying wet and not drying out between waterings. This is allowing the fungus and mold to grow. I think the species you have in there now are harmless. However if conditions stay the same, root rot, disease, pests, and parthenogenic fungus are significantly higher risk.

You need to make sure that the soil goes completely dry between waterings, throughout and not just at the surface. Does your pot have a drainage hole? I see your soil mix has a good amount of inorganic in it (rock/pumice/perlite etc). Is that mixed in throughout the mix or is it only on the surface? What type of rock is it? And what type of pot is that?
