Re-soiled Dracaena, now my baby is dying?! Help!

I got this guy 1-2 years ago and I noticed a little bit ago that he had a couple of dried up and yellow leaves and his soil was very compacted (since I haven't done much to him since I bought him) So I thought maybe now would be a good time to remove the dead leaves, re-soil him, give him some new fertilizer and give him a good water.

Well, a week and a half later. he looks like he's dying! What did I do wrong?! Please help!
He's browning and yellowing but not crispy at all…
He sits in my living room where he get indirect sunlight.

What do you mean by “re soil”? The soil looks to have moss on top?
