Foraging is a great way to connect to nature and the food you eat. Spring is a good time to find delicious native edible plants wherever you are. I get excited to explore wild places (and my backyard), use my plant finding app, and research how different cultures used the plant throughout history. Responsible foraging to me is lightly gathering leaves and flowers (not roots) of things that grow in profusion like weeds. So many overlooked plants are edible, healing and super nutritious as they havenβt had the wild heart and soul bred out of them by modern agriculture! They show up the same today as they did thousands of years ago. We collected black mustard leaves and flowers, black sage (made into tea in mug), purple sage(background) and common ice plant.
