Hi all, recently got a Green Johanna hot composting bin (garden not feasible for open or multi-bin type setups) with the idea of it taking our food waste, cardboard, grass cuttings and other garden waste.
I put a thick layer of sticks at the bottom to help with air flow and for the first while it seemed to be heating up (46 Celsius at one point). Since then it seems to have cooled down/gone anaerobic so I’ve added browns (paper/cardboard/small amount of leaves).
It now has lots of flies, smells a bit and upon turning has reduced down a bunch. Photo is last night after adding more paper and stuff.
Please tell me how to get this to work better!
