Thought it strange that a lot of leaves are already falling off this tree, then noticed these black spots on the leaves as well. In northern Indiana, and it’s been hot and dry for the last week. Could that be causing this, or possibly a diseased tree? Not sure what tree this is, but would love to save it as it’s in front of our house.

Black tar spot is common with maples. It’ll be fine and not have any long term problems from it.
