None of my neighbours have anything like this so are unable to help. It died off last year and grew back (roughly 1 metre tall) in spring, despite digging up the soil and planting new flowers.
Native to a lot of the US. self-seeds easily. Bees love it!

Lovely borage! Attracts good pollinators and those wasps that prey on hornworms. Edible! The flowers are beautiful in a lemonade, and taste a bit like cucumbers.

This is one of my favorite flowers. I love blue in the garden. It’s edible and tastes like cucumber (I’ve read) but I can report that my dog loves to swipe a leaf on the way by.

Borage or comfrey, I always have trouble telling them apart.
The flowers are tasty, but the hairs are a bit prickly.
The leaves are edible too, and both have been used for medicinal poultices.
