Request: Beginner Flower Garden Inspo!

I am a completely new gardener. Like not much knowledge at all.

I have this lengthy section that has over grown with weeds and just looks very ugly.

I would love to turn this into a flower garden, or anything else really that might suit the area. As a bonus, there is a lattice structure above it, which could be utilised.

Please help a beginner out with some inspiration!! Thank uuu

    Yay congrats, and welcome!
Personal favourites for flower production are zinnia, snapdragon and cosmos. All 3 have the added bonus of being very easy to save for seeds, if you choose. Bees love them, and snapdragons have a couple varieties where they can be low lying or stand up tall almost cottage garden like.

I throw around a few lettuce/chard seeds throughout my flower gardens, nice blocks of colour plus it’s great to not pay for spinach and lettuce!

Depends on how much sun they will get in the day also? What the water/retic situation is, and what the soil is like? I know the money starts adding up, but mulch is also a great idea coming into summer.

For a first time gardener, I’d go with lavender and maybe rosmary (very low effort, fills a space out, hard to kill relatively, good for bees). If you want to use the lattice, you can plant sweet peas, also easy. They die every year so if you decide you’re into gardening after a season or two, you could go find a more permanent climber. Just remember permanent climbers need maintenance to stop them getting EVERYWHERE. Good luck!
