Made my first ever ecosphere today. Not sure what to do with the snail

Watched several tutorials prior to skedaddling my clueless a$$ to the lake. And only after putting everything in a jar and bringing it home I discovered this sub. Apparently bigger snails aren't recommend to keep? Now I'm not sure what I should do. Keep it or release it back in to the lake??
