Small yard renovation staging

Hey all,

Looking for the best way to renovate my backyard after coming back from 2 months away from home and finding a lot of weeds. For reference this is melbourne, Australia.

It's a very small yard and the people who sold it to us didn't look after it. The gravel was installed really badly with no sub surface preparation and the yard slopes into the house.

I think I have a rough design in mind similar to the other attachments, instead of grass or pebbles next to the stepping stones I was thinking of a creeper (like thyme) as we don't get good sunlight in winter.

I'll keep the elevated wooden garden beds but replace the framing.

Should the new garden bed framing have gravel for drainage underneath? What is the best way to prepare the surface after I remove the gravel?

Any other suggestions are welcome!

  1. Absolutely love the second picture, looks so much like Bali. Be advised that you’ll battle lots of insects though.
