My mom gave me this plant years ago but I have no idea what it is. It's getting so long I have to put it up to avoid stepping on it. Should I be cutting it back?
I would say, yes, trim it, it’ll grow back. You can even give it some fresh soil and fertilize since it looks to me like it could use a bit of a boost. Otherwise, looks like a typical low-maintenance ivy to me. (I’m sure some experts will come through with more advice).

Shes a pretty tough girl. The two or three long bits with not many leaves attached hanging on the doorknob etc. cut them right back to the pot it’ll reshoot more when it’s ready.
Also if there are some really long bits with not many leaves just trim them off back to where the leaves are more numerous.
