About this video: I am ready for Fall Planting. Over the last few weeks I’ve gone plant shopping and accumulated a few plants in Steph’s home nursery that will need to get in the ground soon. Our weather is finally cooling off and I can’t wait to plant again. And I’m trying to grow some cool season annuals this fall for an early flower start next spring. Also, my friend Janey over @DigPlantWaterRepeat send over a surprise package that we’ll unbox together. Thanks for watching – Steph (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b) #lowes #gardening #lowesgardencenter

  2. What's the title of the book and author you held up? Your garden shows the amount of hard work it takes to look like yours. Love your channel ❤️ ❤

  3. Steph I am in zone 9 in South Texas and I have the star in my garden so it is just what you said it’s where you get your information from.

  4. I am in a similar zone to yours in New York. I direct sowed larkspur and cornflowers in my vegetable garden last fall. They did great and have reseeded. I tried poppies but the cornflowers smothered them! I may try poppies again, but plant them separately.

  5. Just wanted you to know that Great Garden Plants says Ascot Rainbow is zone 5-9. I have it planted in southern PA zone 6b. It comes back each year. I hope it does great for you too.

  6. I couldn't resist the euphorbia at Briggs either, so beautiful! Can't wait to see how they mature in my garden. I will never get rid of my hosta though!

  7. I have the rainbow ascot in my 5b/6a planted last year and it has come back beautifully. Also a mugo pine might be a nice addition to the roadside bed.

  8. i loved the video, thank you for sharing with us. i'm going to try the sheet mulching in one of my flower gardens. my yard is down hill so this is hard to work with. but, you have to keep trying. thanks, and i hope you and george have a great weekend.

  9. I've read Lisa Zieglar's books and highly recommend them. My bachelor buttons were outstanding compared to the spring started ones.

  10. Hi Steph, you will love the Canterbury bells. I planted a mix 3 years ago, and the flowers were beautiful. They self seed. I just move the seedlings to wherever i want them. I garden in MA. Lovely video.

  11. I don’t like my hostas either! Some of them have a fugus or something. I have like million of them from the previous homeowner. You inspired me to dig them up and give away!

  12. Your gardens are beautiful! I love Ascot Rainbow too. I have two of them and I am wondering if I should be cutting them to the ground in the spring or just leave the stems to green up on their own? What do you do in the spring?

  13. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I LOVE Janey’s channel DIG PLANT WATER REPEAT (as well as your channel and your beautiful garden) !!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

  14. Your Japanese maple gardens are so beautiful; you can be proud. Love those tall hollies in that bed. And a new garden to look forward to in the spring – how exciting!

  15. Maybe see if Cryptomeria Japonica Little Diamond might appeal to you for a globe evergreen in your driveway bed?

  16. Good morning HAR Family! I gotta agree with you Steph I’m with ya on not being a hosta lover… I’ve tried and tried over the years to fake myself out and try to convince myself that I was … but I can’t do it anymore lol Im ready to scream on the roof tops🗣”I’m Not A Hosta Lover!” lol

  17. Thank you Steph for this video with lots of great tips on what we can be doing now to get ready for next spring. Winter interest is something I need to focus on in gardens 😊👍🏻

  18. Love your garden and your videos! So pretty! I love all your Japanese Maples. I'm in Zone 9B in Houston and have a lot of shade in my garden. Any suggestions as so which would be the best choice. I purchased one a year or so ago and it died. I think I had it in a too hot/sunny spot. But I'm willing to try again. They are so pretty.

  19. Your garden is gorgeous! I love watching you and your husband make your garden even more beautiful. Judi from Connecticut

  20. Such pretty gardens, Steph. I recently found a new to me Lamb’s Ear, not sure if it’s new to the market. It’s called Little Lamb, and it’s a miniature. I think I’m going to like it.

  21. Loved your idea re removing plants when they no longer inspire you. What are those two silver plants by the Golden Hemlock?

  22. Hello Steph, Beautiful gardens! I have Ascot Rainbow euphorbia and it does well in my coastal northern California garden, zine 10a. I really appreciate you discussing deer resistant plants. Deer eat almost everything.🤦‍♀️
