They just do weird stuff sometimes 🤷 It will almost certainly outgrow the weirdness and return to normal growth. But maybe it won’t and you’ll have a weird column on your hands.

There’s plenty of people on here that have a more discerning eye for cacti than I. But if I had to guess this may be Torres Torres. It likes to terminate and pup in this fashion sometimes, usually when it has grown some girth and has enough stored energy.
