i think i’ve seen someone on here say that’s where your root is about to grow more roots 🙂

a similar thing happened to my roommate’s lucky bamboo. looked like that and it was squishy, i’m guessing it’s just some sort of bacteria/fungi, as long as your plant looks healthy otherwise i don’t think it’s anything to be worried about just rinse it off and change the water 😁

That root is very dark, is it soft and mushy?
