What to do here?

Moved into a new place this year. Previous owner let it grow to over a foot from the gutter, which I have remedied. Should I trim it back further to the edge of the concrete? Is there anything I can do about the woody bits (see pics 2, 3)?
Also, with these kinds of groundcover, are there times of year where I should trim it, or just whenever?

Looks really nice the way it is , maybe if it’s a fast growing plant you could but wait and see . Love it , lucky you .

It looks like you’ve done great for a start. You could probably take it back a little further when you feel like it, especially if new growth bushes out from where you’ve pruned. I think it’s fine as it is, and now it’s functional again.
