Harvesting & Storing Homegrown Vegetables at My Cabin

Here’s how it’s going… harvesting my vegetable garden and storing food for the winter. Use code ALLY130 to get $130 off across your first 4 boxes of Good Chop at https://bit.ly/3Yeju94 !

This year I grew vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers in the largest garden I have ever worked in. After a summer full of my own fresh produce, it is now time to begin preserving as much as I can for the winter. These are the vegetables I preserved this week.

  1. You’ve put so much into your garden, and it looks amazing. It’s only going to get better from here!

I’m feeling inspired to make pesto.

    Great video, Ally! 🧡

  2. I'm watching both yours and Kyle's videos on this rainy day. 100% chance of rain all day thanks to a tropical system off the coast of the Carolinas so a perfect day to sit back and catch up. I'm loving your garden!

  3. You are such a hard worker.well done young lady.great accomplishment.shamim 🧚‍♂️💗✅💯🎎🦋💑👋🧜‍♀️👥👬🤱🫂

  4. Hi Sweet Pea. Your garden look's so good. Beautiful. What a wonderful life you two have. Keep going and keep taking care of each other. HUGS!

  5. Ally watching your video today, the way your hands worked in the garden; and the way You move w such
intention and care. You remind of a midwife caring for mothers and babies. I was a practicing doula for over 25 years. I’ve watched a lot of loving hands. Your hands and careful attention remind me of the many women I’ve worked with. .. who knows, that may be your calling down the road on your journey through life ❤

  6. 😊 Ally…The best part of having alot of salsa on hand is you can have it alone or add to chilli, goulash etc.. 😊

  7. I love seeing what you harvest and cook from your garden. Amazing video. ❤🔥 I need more of these! You could also create educational garden content (more step by step guides really explaining how to do things) and stuff that you learn from your apprenticeship

  8. if clouds are created by water evaporating from lakes rivers oceans due to heat then how come aeroplanes don't fly through the oceans of water when ever they fly through the clouds ?

  9. Love all of this gardening, my dad made a green house with plastic instead of glass , for years we started there and than planted in the garden our plants . We canned most of our harvest and we had a root cellar as well . Being poor somehow we felt rich .

  10. Hi Ally I'm from vermont just over the line of nh other side of the George. First time mentioning to you how this vedio really was stunning! Your choice of music the violin playing and you picking your reels of your hard work of this amazing garden the two of you creating this amazing garden was so blissful and touching to watch you with your confident voice and happiness in your smile was very enjoyable to watch. You have grown so much with this journey of yours and ty ally!!! Kc I would like someday to get together and do some hiking through the woods I enjoy nature like you do! Vermont

  11. Now that I am in my early 60's, I truly believe that IF we had known about the amazing benefits of growing our own gardens and the importance of grass-fed, none hormone injected beef that we would be SO much healthier today! All of the processed foods I've consumed over my lifespan have just affirmed how bad those foods are! Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer can all be linked back to what we expose ourselves to, I'm sure! But you're never too old to learn and do better! I plan to start my own garden and choose to eat more organically. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Great video. Such a beautiful garden. You worked hard. (Girl, get a jar funnel for your canning jars in addition to the regular ones!)

  13. The bat is adorable!!! Definitely good luck 😊 You're doing such an amazing job with your bountiful harvest!!! So exciting to see all the delicious things you are making, and preserving ❤

  14. Your veggies are gorgeous!!! Here’s a tip: the garden is always amazing the first couple years because bad buggies haven’t discovered it. Have bug/mosquito netting ready to cover your crops that don’t need pollination like cruciferous veg, greens, etc. For squash and cucumber family grow them up like over hog panels (not cattle panels they’re not sturdy enough) this way you can keep an eye on the dreaded squash bugs and cucumber beetles. Tomatoes and peppers you just need to keep an eye on them. I grow indeterminate toms over an arbor as well it’s so easy for harvesting and looking out for bugs and worms. You will need PVC pipe the size that allows you to bend it, you can attach them on the inside of the raised beds and lay the netting over that to protect your beautiful garden from bugs that want to destroy it. I also plant basil all over the garden close to veggies this seems to help repel some bugs. Hope this helps for future gardening🍅

  15. Your garden has done amazingly well for its first year! I love my tulsi and lemon balm also! My dehydrator runs almost full time through the summer. I never buy tea bags anymore, love my fresh tea leaves that I grew myself.

  16. Ally, I absolutely love your content, you are very genuine and inspiring! I always learn so much! I am planning on starting my own garden in spring, are there any resources/trainings you would recommend for someone starting a homestead?

  17. Ally my gosh you are truly an inspiration and hopefully with so many of us watching you we will learn the importance of growing our own fruits and vegetables if we can possibly do it. That this is something we can all maybe try. Both you and Kyle are such hard working individuals and now things you guys have accomplished shows what hard work can produce. You are so gifted Ally in so many ways. God has blessed you for sure. Thank you again for showing us that we can dump ultra processed foods and go “au natural”! 😁 As always I so look forward to your videos……Lisa 🤗🙏💓

  18. Not amateurish, but very well planned & executed! Congratulations on the abundant garden, the success of which is measured in its utilization & preservation. Well done & very inspirational!
