Unlike Gojo when I was discouraged from my passion when I was young, I abandoned it. I loved art in general but was convinced by people – adults in my life, really – that it was a waste of time. That good ol' "IF ONLY YOU PUT ALL THAT ENERGY INTO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE" trope. Cut to about 20 years later, I manage to wrangle my various neurosis, decide to go back to school and get a Fine Arts degree. And I love it.
Got my own kids now and they got their weird little passions. Since day one I've been telling them "the opinions of others means fuck-all unless they earn your respect enough that you want to hear those opinions". It's probably a weird thing to tell an infant as babies are largely invested in pooping and crying; I'm invested in those things myself, though I try to diversify more now.
Teeaboo + My Dress Up Darling = Instant Click……. Wow this was a pleasant surprise! 😁 It is a really good show and I think you will find value in watching it.
it's funny you should mention "gyaru as armor", because in the currently airing "Gimai Seikatsu" (Days with my Stepsister), the female protagonist is doing exactly that, might be something you'd like to watch, as well, even if only on your own
Btw, do you consider changing subs? These ones aren't that good, IMO. Aside from translation liberties and some other inaccuracies, there's a missing innuendo at the end (next ep. title).

Ah, this is great – a nice relaxed fun series… yeah, lots of wish fulfilment. It threw me how different the subtitles are from the ones I watched during the series airing, I guess these are the official ones and I wonder which are more accurate – the long and very dubious name at the end of the episode was completely different with the one I watched being far less lewd. Even the 'next time' episode title was different?!
The introduction of Marin flying threw the air was an addition to the anime, I always thought maybe she was trying to do a cheerleader style lift or backflip with the lollypop girl giving her a boost – that's why she apologises – but in general it never really make sense how this happened!
Ohh i thought hibike season 3 was cooking but i didn't know you asked for a cutesy show. This is definitely up your alley, tho i wonder how much the show mirroring your real life situation right now enhances your experience.

Girls of Marin's type are called gyaru in Japan. The word comes from the English word “girl.
By the way, I love gyaru, but I've become an old man without having any connection with them. I couldn't make use of my advantage of being Japanese not even 1%(´;ω;｀)
It's not mentioned in the anime but their doll company is much bigger than just Gramps and Wakana. Their are three locations and the one you see is the smallest – they also have a factory and a storefront showroom, have dozens of employees, and make 200-300 dolls a day.
It's been a hot minute since I've been available to stick around and follow you through a series. I remember fondly tagging along for Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei years ago and Legend of the Galactic Heroes but I am totally down for joining you through a rewatch of My Dress-Up Darling.
I like that you brought up the camera and know how to pay attention to it. The camera's point of view will change several times over the course of the season. You can usually tell who has the point of view which of the characters is having the most over-the-top reactions.
if you don't mind sharing just a bit, did you meet your current partner through gym, friends, app or other means? I kinda wanna meet people, but all who I know are not interested and/or taken, and the app is quite not helpful
