Saw this about 20 feet up on a trunk of I think cottonwood tree. It looks like it's maybe an inch tall or so. I suppose there is a possibility it's something human made, but in the setting it is in, it would be very difficult to get it up there. Can it be some sort of gall?

In guessing by these comments there isn’t anything that’s not human made that can resemble this?
