San Pedro Cactus

PPP ! PENISCACTUS PROGRESS POST !

May 17 cactus planted

August 7 seeds planted

September 21 today

The plants I gathered seeds from were also planted from seed by me ! I originally gathered the seeds in the neighborhood I grew up in so they are nostalgic and make my cactus hillside feel like home !!

I’m strictly using these plant for shade as it is drought tolerant, it grows fast , has broad leaves , and being poisonous keeps the rabbits from eating the young seedlings ! Once the summer heat subsides I will remove and compost these plants .

PLEASE NOTE – I do not advice growing Castor!!

Castor bean is highly toxic. Ingesting Just a few seeds can be fatal . Contact with the leaves can cause rashes and extreme allergic reactions. The pollen can cause respiratory issues and once again eating just a few seed can prove to be lethal .

I’ve grown up with this plant so I don’t have any problems with it , but I do not suggest anyone else use it in or around your garden .
In some counties and cities it is illegal to grow .

Grinding the seeds is considered a biological weapon and is illegal in the entire country.

Gardening is FUN 🤩, but always be safe in your garden !!!

  1. Dave’s breaking bad on the path of penis (cactus).

In all seriousness this is awesome. I love gardening. Reminds me of my grandfathers house in NorCal with hillside acres and landscaped paths. I helped him build a sick waterfall into a Koi pond. Miss that place. Thanks for sharing!

Woo! That’s a great video! I love that you brought us through the process. Thank you for sharing the awesomeness. And good idea to use the existing, drought tolerant varieties to your advantage🌵🌿
