How do I help it with variegation?

I've had this for 2 years. The skinny part was when I lived in an apartment and had suboptimal light.

It is now on an enclosed porch with indirect light all day. There is some mottled coloring, but would putting this in direct sun (slowly of course) help promote more yellow growth?
