Corking or no corking ?

Hello!

My mum has a couple of cacti doing… this. I've seen a little info about cacti "corking" which seems relatively harmless. Is is that?

It sits on a windowsill that gets plenty of light, and if we need more soil and water info I can ask for that too. Light.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thank you for posting to r/plantclinic!

It looks like you may be asking about a cactus or succulent. In addition to any advice you receive here, please consider visiting r/cactus r/succulents for more specialized care advice.

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

I think it’s at least partly scale. If you can flake it off easily it’s scale
