Hi there. Husband and I bought our first home and need some advice. Our fence line backs up to a county slough that has a number of large trees in it that hang into our backyard. Under most circumstances we would be happy about more trees, but they seem to all be infested with gall wasps and are dumping pointy red tree zits all over our yard and pool.
We’ve been trying to work with someone at the county to get the tree trimmed but they are overloaded and said they won’t have anything until after way into year.
Is it possible to do some mild pruning ourselves that won’t completely damage the tree? We have pole saws and some prior experience, but not with a tree this large and want to make sure we won’t be causing more harm, especially as windy season around here always results in trees causing massive damage.
