$1,500 Hardscape Project – Road Extension.

Hey all, I started and finished a small hardscape project today. A large HOA I contract for has hired me to build 15 of these hardscape road extensions as homeowners continually cut the corners short, drive over the grass, killing it and inevitably creating a low spot that holds water and eventually muck. Furthermore, as the hole next to the road was created, the road edge was undermined and began to crumble and deteriorate.

The road edge was cut back, to give a straight flush edge to lay against. The area was excavated 6”, 4” for the permeable base layer, and 4” for the block (the difference of 2” existed already as it was low.

Furthermore, Most of the dirt that WAS originally in the hole, was pushed out by car and truck tires creating a very high grass spot next to where the pavers were going to finish. Used a sod cutter to take up a couple rows of sod next to the new pad, rolled up sod, cut out and tapered the existing dirt underneath, and relaid same sod. The grass and transition aren’t perfect, but at least it’s not a flagrant trilling hazard!!

$1,500 is labor only. Pavers and crush and run base was furnished by customer.

Thoughts on craftsmanship? Thoughts on price?

Happy landscaping!!

  1. Let me be the first to say…I think you did a good job! Looks pretty nice to my eyes and price sounds reasonable.

I’m not a fan of the style, but I think you did a great job executing the work.
