Grabbed videos of some of the various dahlias I’ve been going on about all summer! I’m pretty sure I annoy all the busy bees when I stroll through my flowers trying to get pics lol 🌸🐝 🐝 🐝 📹📸😅!
The smaller mostly colorful organza bags are to mark seed pods I’m saving for next year. The larger white organza bags are to protect the flowers from bugs (earwigs especially) eating or hiding in the petals.
I started a little over 100 dahlias from seed this year and tried to keep track a little. Just a handful of my seed dahlias left to bloom! The ones with names are from dahlias I’ve purchased and saved the tubers over the years.
The four dahlias in the ground with tons of bags on them were also pinched multiple times when they were younger. I think that has helped me get a lot more flowers out of them. I thought the stems would be short with the punching, but nope, they’re pretty good sized stems!
