(my descriptive text seems to have disappeared after posting, but here’s what I tried to post initially):
Hi, I have a columnar oak tree that seems to be dying (the top did not produce any foliage this season, and the leaves that did sprout on the lower half appear to be afflicted with something). From searching online and using Google Lens, I‘m thinking it is powdery mildew (which I read may not necessarily fatal to the tree), but I’m not sure. I’ve also had a few tree trimmers/arborists come by, but they didn’t seem sure of what it could be either.
I’m mostly curious whether there’s a chance it could be treated back to full health, or if not, identifying what happened to it so I can try to avoid it with the next tree to be planted in that area. Thanks in advance for any input.
