Are these little baby Spanish Moss? I have a large 1.5 foot long Spanish moss plant at home already. My mom went to Tennessee Sunday and she saw these 2 plants growing on the side of a tree. If they are Spanish Moss, how do I go about taking them off the bark without damaging them? Do I need to "tie" the base once I do? They're soaking a bit right now.

More than likely a lichen.
I agree it looks like a lichen. Spanish moss doesn’t have a central stem like that.
