I'm from the UK and these two are council owned trees, it was planted some 35 years ago and have been mainly healthy appearing until 2 years ago when it started losing bark and growing shrooms out the trunk. Both have the same issues though one seems a little worse.
Please could someone advise whether this is a danger to us (it's close to the house) or if we can leave it be.
The main trunk appears to be rotting with new growth around it coming from the ground.
