South facing, 7b. The well is here solo is like to put in something to disguise it a bit but that won’t have deep risky roots. There was a very scrubby tree there I recently took down.
How about going with some decorative landscape boulders or rocks? You could create a natural-looking rock garden with low maintenance plants around the well to soften the look without risking the roots. Plus, it’ll give the yard texture and color without much upkeep. It could be a nice balance.
