does my pothos need nitrogen?

i am a complete plant beginner and this pothos is my baby. i've been watering her once a week and letting her drain. she's in a north facing window. her leaf started yellowing a few days ago and i'm not sure why. a friend suggested that she needs nitrogen in her soil, is this the issue? I am a little concerned that she might be root bound, (second photo) does she need a bigger pot? i need her to live 🙏

I’m not sure about the nitrogen deficiency, that seems too specific to tell from a photo to me. It could be just getting rid of an old leaf. The soil also seems very moist and dense to me. If you lift the plant out of the pot you can tell if it’s rootbound or not, just seeing a root sticking out isn’t enough. If other leaves don’t yellow I wouldn’t worry too much. When you repot it eventually, go for a chunkier soil.

Howdy! This isn’t a pothos! Looks like a type of philodendron- moonlight or florida green maybe ? Hard to tell when they’re immature but once she’s larger you can tell by the shape of the leaves.

She needs much more light, shedding of lower leaves is an indicator. A south window would be ideal 🙂

    Here’s a photo for reference-

Pothos have a stem between each leaf, while yours is growing upward with the new leaf emerging from center

Looks like it’s planted a bit too deeply, the soil shouldn’t be covering the base of the bottom leaves. Planting it too deep makes it harder to gauge when to water and increases the risk of root and stem rot. Aside from that I think the plant looks fine, yellowing is just old leaves dying off.

Might need to be repotted in new soil in a larger pot. Water a bit less, and plant it shallower.
