have to pullem up by the roots. Here in corn country tho they seem to be a natural part of the ecological equation. seeds fly everywhere.

Thistle of some sort. Spiky as hell but not poisonous to touch or anything. Depending on your location many species of thistle can be invasive, and they can be very tough to get rid of, they are weedy and regrow easily as long as the deep taproot is intact.
