My DIY path sucks… how can I fix it?

I created a little rock path going to my house using rocks I found.

Each rock has a flat side and a side that’s a bit funky. The funky side faces the dirt, and is causing wobbliness.

Should I try to dig out more precise diets for the wobbly sides, or is there some sort of base I should be using?

Or is using rocks like this just not a good idea in general?

Thanks!

Cut out a wider pathway. Put a paver base down. Put your pavers flat so they don’t cause a tripping hazard. Fill the gaps.

Hire a professional, look at Pinterest to see what exactly you want, save a few photos, get 3 bids, dont pay the contractor in full upfront 10% down only, 25% 50%, 75%. Retain final payment for inspection of work and corrections.

You need to put gravel under there. Like 6 inches worth or those will sink right into your lawn. I did flat square pavers and put 6 inches of gravel and then 1 inch of sand. Not sure you need sand with those but it may help the wobble you are getting.

That is what I did for the square paver stepping stones for my walk but maybe others can chime in for the rock you are using.
