Red oak seedling worth saving?

In these months the nut of that red oak germinated but the trunk grew a little crooked. I don't know what type of red oak it is but what can you tell me? Will it grow well over time?

It’ll straighten out in time. I’d wait for it to go dormant and carefully dig it out. The taproot likely goes to the bottoms of the pot it’s in

    Transplant in fall.

    It’s definitely worth saving, IMO.

When you are ready to put that guy in the ground, make sure to include the long tap root.

Isn’t the pot a little large? Shouldn’t you want to plant it in something smaller?
