If I do a big trunk chop on my b. rupestris, will it encourage branching like it does with other trees?

I got this when it was 8” tall and had only juvenile leaves. It’s about 2 feet tall now but I’d like it to max at out about 6-7 feet since I’m keeping it indoors. I don’t plan on chopping it now but I’m just curious about it for the future!
