Help! I cannot figure out what’s happening to my black velvet alocasia. There’s no way it’s being overwatered. That’s how I lost my last one so I’m very careful of it now. Also, the nursery pot it’s in drains really well. I will say, I haven’t repotted it since getting it a couple months ago, so it is in original soil. I did use fertilizer on it recently, but I followed the instructions. It gets light from an east facing window and my room humidity ranges between 50-60%. I have a humidifier, but I’ve found that it doesn’t really help. I would’ve suspected that it’s dropping that first leaf because it sprouted out a new one a couple weeks ago, but the tips of two other leaves have yellowed on me. Also, it’s been kinda droopy ever since I brought it home. Something must be wrong. Does anyone know what may be happening?

It’s definitely dropping that first leaf, and that’s not concerning at all.
I highly recommend changing the soil as many distributors use a soil that retains a lot of water.
Aside from that it looks healthy. Maybe a little leggy like it’s reaching for light, but that’s not a bad thing, per se.
