What's this plant

Crocus? At this time of year, in this part of the world, …

"… localized entirely in Southern Germany?"

It does look like a Crocus species to me (rather than Colchicum, for instance), but I'm surprised by the timing.

Google Lens agrees with me, my plant app cannot decide between being stumped and vaguely suggesting Colchicum autumnale.

This is in a city, but not in an artificially planted area. Maybe it's a species I didn't know grows here which flowers in autumn, or it's just a rare freak occurrence? Or is it Colchicum after all?

Anyone know the solution?

Definitely looks like Crocus. Maybe someone pre-chilled and then planted it? Very odd.

Autumn Crocus(Colchicum autumnale). They bloom in September and October. They’re native to the British isles.

Saffron crocus (Crocus sativus) also blooms in October.

There are crocuses that bloom in autumn. I think that saffron crocus is one of them, in fact
