I’ve just come back from Bali and one of the things that charmed me about our hotel was the orchids growing on the trees. It looked so pretty and added extra interest and colour at eye level. I’d love to try this myself, and there’s certainly instructions on how to do it on the internet, but I’m wondering: have any of you Melbourne gardeners done this? If you have, and succeeded, I’d love some hints, beginning with the type of orchid that would take to this treatment (and not kill my palm trees in the process), and what to take into account in our weather conditions.
