My dad is in his 60s and has bad sciatica and a bad arm. He just sent me this photo, previously it was just grass. All the plants have been there. I just feel like the small dinky rocks evenly spaced looks sad! What can I suggest for him to improve the landscaping? I’m sort of imagining more plants (native to Washington state and low maintenance) and perhaps a dry creek bed rock design, more varied sizes of rocks… any advice would be great! I don’t live near him but because he can’t do much physical labor I was thinking of looking into a landscaper for him, or some handy guys who could help move rocks if I provided a design.

Is he happy with it?
Google “Rock Garden”. There is a lot that can be done with stone of different sizes and colors and even some low maintenance perennial shrubs if you want to go on a limb.
You could easily add a spruce mid-bottom left of this photo. Minimal maintenance, if any. It would even out the lawn
Needs bigger rocks and more variety.
It’s the rocks lmao. You gotta do something with them if they’re that small.
Pink Plastic Flamingos. But he has to buy a few Hawaiian shirts and stand around amongst them holding a drink for at least 30 minutes a day for it to really work.
Rocks are expensive!
I’d go with pampas and ferns
Put up a tent and a circle of lawn chairs. Lean into it
That looks fantastic
Is that mulch on the foundation? Does the
What does your dad want?
Not sure where you are in Washington, but king county/puget sound offers rebates for rain gardens. Check out RainWise for more info
Plant some native shrubs, something low maintenance and evergreen.
Rocks that small would look better clustered together and incorporate other size rocks
Looks mid
