Which kind of irrigation system would you be looking at to install in this empty garden area (soon to have quite a few plants introduced)?
I'm not sure if this changes anything, but the soil has quite a dry clay composition at the moment.

Use drip line to slowly water the garden as this will stop water from pooling and running off. It will also save on water use.
Also maybe introduce swales on the contour lines, dig a low trench going across the land at 2m spacing.. it will slow run off and collect leaf litter for mulch, plants love em
